DOWNTOWN AKRON’S “HIDDEN GEM” INDIE THEATER
Making the arthouse cinema experience more accessible — for everyone.
The Nightlight is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit movie theater in Akron, Ohio, dedicated to fostering community through cinema.
Open nightly since July 2014, we provide a cozy place for you to enjoy the cinematic art form alongside our diverse, curious community — film fans, art aficionados, and good ol’ moviegoers of all ages and interests — here in Akron, and across Northeast Ohio.
From indie flicks and docs to cult classics and more, we’re passionate about playing great cinema worth seeing on the big screen, and we make it a point to have something exceptional for everyone.
Every night’s an invitation to explore a new world or idea, sip a delectable drink and snack on some delicious popcorn… maybe even bump into friends, old and new.
We warmly welcome you to The Nightlight. See you soon!
“Favorite theater in NE Ohio.”

Remembering Rob Lucas, Trustee Emeritus
There would be no Nightlight if Rob Lucas hadn’t started the Akron Independent Film & Video Festival at the University of Akron back in 2002, planting the seed for a film community that still thrives.
