AKRON’S “HIDDEN GEM” THEATER ON N. HIGH ST.
An exceptional arthouse cinema experience—for everyone.
The Nightlight is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit movie theater in downtown Akron, Ohio, dedicated to fostering community through quality cinema made more accessible.
Open nightly since July 2014, we’ve been the cozy go-to spot for you to enjoy the cinematic art form alongside our diverse community of curious filmgoers, here in Akron and across Northeast Ohio.
From indie flicks and documentaries to cult classics and more, we’re passionate about playing exceptional cinema worth seeing on the big screen. You don’t have to be an arthouse aficionado to find your next favorite film here.
Cinema within community means expanding our horizons together.
Every night’s an open invitation for you to explore a new world or idea, sip a delectable drink and snack on some delicious popcorn… maybe even bump into some friends, old and new.
We warmly welcome you to The Nightlight. See you soon!

Remembering Rob Lucas, Trustee Emeritus
There would be no Nightlight if Rob Lucas hadn’t started the Akron Independent Film & Video Festival at the University of Akron back in 2002, planting the seed for a film community that still thrives.
